The Present

Hi everybody. Welcome to the blog where I talk about the present.

People often ask me why I get up so early. I always reply, well, I’ve kind of been conditioned to get up early. You see, when I was a fashion photographer, I would always get up early to get the good light. And then, as a competitive runner, I got up early to train and race. What I’m going through right now is kind of like a big race. You see, when you get up for a race, you’re pumped up, your adrenalin is flowing. You’re hyper-active, concentrating on the up and coming event. What I’m going through now is kind of like that. Every day. I mean, it’s been over a decade, but I treat every day like it’s the first day. I’m also happy to wake up. I mean, there are many times I possibly wouldn’t have woken up. So I’m grateful for each day, and approach it with enthusiasm.

So, check it out. My friend here and I are going to do a documentary. I won’t tell you how I’m gonna format it, but it’s basically about these healthcare workers and how they are underpaid and over worked. I’ll fill you in more on the details later, but it’s a cool project, and it’s about time we all appreciate these workers. Believe me, we’re all gonna need them in the future. After all, we all want to stay home as long as possible, right? I mean, you can’t bring a smelly dog into a nursing home, can you?

That’s it. B. Nice signing off. Love and miss you all, Love, B. Nice

Man, I woke up this morning in a real bad mood. You see, when you have a traumatic brain injury, everyone is affected differently. For example, we have a low pressure system around, and that really affects me. Having a crazy ex - that also affects me - ha ha ha ha. But, basically, you’ve gotta suck up the everyday dramas of life as well as your brain injury. It’s not easy. Believe me. I do the best I can. My suggestion is to throw yourself into whatever it is you love to do. For example, I love to paint, so I do watercolors and that makes me happy. I also love to take photographs. I photograph the world as I see it. That makes me happy. So basically, do what makes you happy.

That’s it for this week. I’m gonna keep it short. Don’t forget to check out the blog where I talk about the past.

Hi everybody. Welcome to the blog where I talk about the present.

Oh man! Last Sunday was Father’s Day. I got a great gift from my kid, but I’ll tell you what, I’m not a big fan of Father’s Day. The reason is because I’m not a “traditional Dad.” I can’t teach my kid how to ride a bike, how to surf, how to tie a shoe, how to fish, or fly a kite. Maybe my kid will learn something from me. Which brings me to another point. Now, I’m gonna be a father here, and give you some Fatherly Advice. As you go through life, you’re gonna meet a lot of people. Try and learn at least one thing from each person you meet. Make a mental record of what you’ve learned. Say it to yourself over and over a few times. Remember what you’ve learned from that person. It’ll get you far in life. You’ll see. At the time you’re midway through life, you’ll be pretty street-smart.

Every once in a while you’ll get a reality check. You know, when you’re like me, you’ll get a reality check. For example, the other day, my health assistant helped get me on the floor. Being on the floor is brutal for me. Mind you, I haven’t been on the floor for like four years. I used to panic when I got on the floor, but now, I’m getting better at it. I do things like yoga, stretches, for example, cobra, and other stretching. It’s hard for me, but it’s one step closer to getting better. One other thing I’ll mention, make sure you get a good wheelchair for yourself. There’s nothing worth than being stuck in a wheelchair that isn’t fitted for you. Believe me.

That’s all for this week. Miss you guys. Talk to you next week.

Hi everybody. Welcome to the blog where I talk about the present.

Let’s dedicate this blog to all the Dads, past and present. I had a great dad. My friend here had a great dad. And I’m sure there are plenty of other present dads out there. Good on ya.

Oh man, I had physical therapy the other day. It was brutal. You see, I haven’t had this kind of therapy, where I stand up and walk, in a long time. When you take a break in therapy, it’s brutal coming back. It’s kind of like it was for me when I was a competitive runner. If you missed out on a couple weeks worth of work outs, it was tough when you came back. My physical therapy, it’s hard to describe. I wasn’t winded or out of shape. It was more like I was just rusty. Bottom line is, you gotta keep on doing your therapy.

Now let’s go back to the Father’s Day thing. You see, I’m a dad, so I’m gonna give you some fatherly advice.

Authority: always question authority. Don’t be a sheep, but be a wolf.

Love: it doesn’t matter who you love, as long as you have the ability to love.

Respect: don’t judge people, but respect them. Remember, everyone has the right to have their own opinion.

Simple: keep a low profile. Live a simple life. Don’t boast or brag about yourself.

Fight: fight for what you believe in.

Hope: never ever give up. Always have hope. Follow your dreams and your goals. For example, my goal is to walk again. It’s gonna happen, I have no doubt. It just takes a lot of work and a lot of time. Hopefully, I’ll be alive by the time I’m ready to walk.

Oh yeah, and, for God’s sakes, laugh at yourself. I mean you gotta have a laugh. Don’t take yourself too seriously.

Now that brings me to the conclusion of this blog. We’ve got to have a Dad Joke. I think I told you, I can’t remember.

OK, so there was this shark, right? He was eating a clown fish. What did he say? He said, “Man, this fish tastes funny.” LOL

Love you guys. Happy Father’s Day.

Love, B. NIce

Hi you guys. Welcome to the blog where I talk about the present.

Every once in a while, you’ll do something and it’ll remind you that you’re really messed up. For example, I got on the floor, and I tried to do some yoga. Oh man, that was brutal. I thought I was gonna throw up. I haven’t been on my stomach in four uyears. I did notice, the rug needs a good vacuum. I guess you don’t see that when you’re like this, when you’re in the wheel chair.

Anyway, I just thought I’d share that with you.

Oh, I got up off the floor with my lift.

Talk to you next week. Love you and miss you.

Love, B. Nice
