Hi everybody! Happy birthday Paul! Welcome to my blog where I talk about my present. I’m gonna dedicate this blog to my friend here. She came back from her vacation. I couldn’t blog while she was away, cause she’s the backbone of this blog and I couldn’t do it without her.
So I’ve been hard at work at getting sidewalks put in between Boscobel and Little Stony Point. That’s here in the town of Cold Spring, NY, USA. The sidewalk’s not only for handicapped people like me, but for mother’s with strollers, older people, people in general, people walking their dogs, kids coming home from school, walking to your doctor, walking to therapy, walking to get food. A sidewalk on 9D (that’s a state road by the way) is essential. My pitch is this, look, the city is growing. We’re becoming an outskirt of NYC. Not only that, but we’re supposed to be carbon friendly. It’ll be good for us to get off our fat ass and walk to the doctor (as you a see, I’m a little passionate about this sidewalk thing). My family has been trying to put in a sidewalk from Boscobel to Little Stony Point for about 10 years now. What has put fire under my ass is that I almost fell over in my power chair. I’m a little fired up because I’ve survived a lot in my life and I almost got taken out by a stupid sidewalk. A sidewalk not only has to be put in, but they have to be repaired as well (that’s the ones that are already in place).
anyway, I’ve been meeting with the town. We had a big meeting at my house. The State Senator was here, a few other people, and then the following week, we had a meeting with the Senator, a few mayors, someone from the Department of Transportation. Some progress was made, but I guess things have to be done in baby steps. I’m not used to baby steps. Actually, I’m not used to steps at all right now. Anyway, with help from a friend and mayor Kathleen Foley, things seem to be moving forward. I have an assistant who comes in once a week to help me do the things I can’t do. He’s been a great help.
The other thing I’ve been doing is I do little videos for the Philipstown Locals Facebook page. I do it about twice a week. I also got a celebrity friend involved. She’s gonna help me get a few other celebrities. You’d know her by name, but I’m not gonna tell you just yet. I’ll wait till it’s all a done deal. If anyone out there can help me, I need to contact Channel 12. The town of Greenburgh got sidewalks put in after 10 years of complaining and one death. I guess it takes someone to die for things to get done. I would like to expedite our sidewalk and get it done before someone does die. I live right on 9D and I see people walk on the road all the time. I say this over and over, but it’s just a matter of time before someone gets clipped.
Anyway, some of this might be redundant, but sometimes you gotta say things over and over before people listen.
On another note, I finally got my new car, thanks to my sister. She did most of the work. Thanks to my sister I have a new car. It’s sitting here in my driveway ready to be shipped off and converted to a wheelchair car. I can finally leave the house after a long long time. I go out in my powerchair, but it’s not the same as hopping in the car and going somewhere. I guess you call that “Freedom.”
Anyway, that’s about it for now. I’m all fired up now. This sidewalk thing has really gotten under my skin.
That’s about it for now. I’m gonna cut this short cause I want to hear about my friend’s trip. Talk to you guys next week. Love and miss you all. Love, B. Nice
