The Present

Hi you guys. Welcome to my blog where I talk about the present.

I’m presently still recovering from surgery, so I’m gonna keep this kind of short. I just want to reiterate something. You know, when you have surgery, it’s really important to have someone you know with you when you wake up from surgery. Thank God my sister was around when I woke up. Because you’re in a real far out state when you wake up. You need someone you recognize to be there to reassure you. It’s hard to describe it. It’s a scary moment when you come out of anesthesia. Anesthesia can also affect your respiratory system. It’s strong stuff. It took me about four days to get it out of my system. I had to be on oxygen for about four days. Kind of a drag. The only entertainment was the guy next to me. The poor guy was totally out of his mind. He was an older actor. Totally broke, but when his social worker came in, he told her he was a multi-millionaire. He could get all the nurses he needed to go home. It was pretty funny.

I’m gonna leave it at that. I’ll pick out a photo for you guys. Next week we’ll talk about the year 2020. The year of vision, which is ironic. I have a story to tell you.

Love, B. Nice

P.S. I just want to add something: my brain surgeon, you know, the guy that originally operated on me, was at the same hospital that I had surgery. The guy found out I was there totally hooked me up with a great floor and a great room. I just want to express my gratitude again. He’s a great guy.

Hi everybody. Welcome to the blog where I talk about the present.

So, my sister said to me, “There’s easier ways to lose weight.” She said this to me as I went into the operating room. You see, my gallbladder had to be removed. I was back in the hospital again. I looked on the ultrasound before they operated on me, and my gallbladder looked like a sandbox. There were stones all inside it, and the outside was a mess. It was all infected. I went to the emergency room in NYC. It was like Hell. There were no windows. Patients everywhere. Police. Firemen. Doctors. Nurses. Clocks that didn’t work. It was like Hell. I went from there to a private floor where they only put VIP’s. That place was like Heaven. Big windows. Lots of light. Hardly anyone there. It was cool. My neurosurgeon put me there. I went from Hell to Heaven. That was just before my surgery, which lasted about five hours. I’m still a little tired. It was a week ago, so I’m gonna keep this blog short. I still couldn’t believe it, that I was back in the ER. It was surreal. Anyway, enough of my bitching. I’m sorry I haven’t blogged to you earlier, but that’s the reason why. My friend here will help me include a photo.

Love and miss you guys. Love, B. Nice

You know the saying, “Rags to Riches.” Well, I went from riches to rags. This whole brain injury thing has totally changed my life. I was sitting here going through my grocery list and I thought, oh man, I gotta wait til next week when my food stamps come in. How sad is that? I used to do whatever I want, whenever I want. I guess it’s a lifestyle change.

Never a dull moment with this brain injury thing. It’s interesting though. You know, you gotta flip things around. Use your disability as an advantage. For example, my vision is really far out. I use the way of seeing things for my photography. I told you before, but I just want to reiterate how important this is.

On another note. my daughter was here over thanksgiving. It was really cool. I haven’t seen her in about a year. She’s really grown up. We spent a lot of quality time together. It was fun. It makes me realize that family members have to really stick together and help each other. My parents helped me when I was little. It’s only natural that I should help them when they got older. They’re gone now, but it was cool. I got to spend about 8 years with them. We helped each other. It was cool. I miss them.

That’s about all for this week. I hope you had a good thanksgiving. Love, B. Nice

Hi everybody. Welcome to the blog where I talk about the present.

All I have is my hands in my pockets, the air in my lungs, my unique senses, love, and humility. That, and a stinky dog. It’s funny. Like the cliche goes, you really don’t appreciate what you have until it’s all gone. So tomorrow is Thanksgiving, right? So make sure you give thanks for all the good things you have in life. Like I said before, I’m thankful every morning I open my eyes. I’m thankful for my doctor who saved my life. I’m thankful for my family (past and present). I’m thankful for my friends, my health aides. The list goes on and on. Basically, I’m glad to be around.

So check it out. My daughter is here this week. It’s cool to have her here. I haven’t seen her in about a year. She’s grown up from a small little girl to a young lady. It’s cool. Above is a photo of her dog. Its got hair like mine.

Have a good Thanksgiving. Love you guys. Love, B. Nice

Hi you guys. Welcome to the blog where I talk about the present.

Don’t be afraid. This is what I learned the other night. Don’t be afraid to call 911. I had a little episode on Friday night. In past, I blew it off and didn’t call 911. Monday morning, I called my doctor and told him what happened. They said, “What are you calling us for? You should be calling 911.” You see, I had chest pain and pain in my stomach and arm. It turned out I just ate too much pasta. You see, at the hospital, which is where I went, they took blood samples and they can see if you had a heart attack or not. Bottom line is, after spending the day in the emergency room, I realized it was important that they ruled out I might have had a heart attack. It’s important not to be afraid to call 911. Another lesson learned. I swear, this adventure I’m on is constantly teaching me things. When in doubt, always play the safe card.

I’ll tell you, spending the day in the ER wipes you out. I did my therapy at night, but it was real tough. But, you gotta keep going. Right? I’m still looking for a photo assistant. So, if anyone out there knows of anyone, have them give me an email: briannice@me.com

I’ve been watching my daughter play basketball on the internet. She’s really good, and grown up. I’m impressed. Kids grow up so fast, don’t they.

That’s about it for this week. I get kind of bummed out cause I work harder and harder. I miss my daughter. It’s tough. Plus on top of it all, my dog really sitnks.

OK, I’ll talk to you guys next week. Don’t forget to look at my other blog where I talk about the past.

This is B. Nice signing off. Love, B. Nice
